lyrics
With the sun in my eyes, and your breath on my neck, I’m finding it harder to see and inspect
The subtleties on that horizon, the potential it holds for us and a life
That I refuse to view as cold, But dammit if I never felt a lack of hope
Or the senseless grip of senseless hands on my throat
(That shake me to consciousness)
Of things I should fear, of things to hold dear,
Of when to show grace, and when to save face.
Heaven forbid I don’t take a stand, while you stand in the chosen land.
An inch from my face, and block my sight,
Form things I never knew deserved greater height.
On this pedestal of worthless shit, atop which I must admit I do sit.
I will not look at nihilism in the eyes like an old friend, but rather like the bottom feeder that took but never gave.
So keep it simple, and see through every ripple, in the dirty water of the well of the world, then sit back and watch as it all unfurls.
Don't take my word for it, take a look for yourself.
These trees won’t tell lies, this ocean won’t use a guise.
And I swear that there’s history in these mountains' rise.
